wind sense elements

Post by sethcim »

I have a project involving an array of wind sensors, and I'm trying to figure out what thermistors to use because I need to get the size down and increase integration (vs. the whole sensor). Can anyone help me out with either part numbers, or relevant specifications, mainly for the powered sense thermistor.

thank you!

sethcim,

We're currently using a 470 ohm Murata NTC thermistor but the truth is that ANY NTC thermistor will work in our wind sensor schematic.

1) You only have to insure that the value is low enough so that the sensor can heat itself up.
2) The current is in a range that seems acceptable (a smaller sensor will help with this).

These two facts seem to make thermistors in the 50 to 500 ohm range work best with 3-5 volt supplies.

The bridge adjustment (reference voltage level) can then be adjusted for desired current draw - which will also correspond with with operating temperature of the sensor.

Hope that helps,

Paul
