The Atmel AVR ATMeaga128p is a 28 pin device with 16K flash 1K Ram 1/2K EEProm.

I'll look into these chips. I think Lady Ada was talking about the 323 and expected the Arduino IDE to support it. Not shipping till fall though I think.

Paul, it is the second chip I am talking about - The first chip goes on your standard RBBB and is the ATMega168p chip.
The second chip has "double the resources" of your Freeduino chip.

Yes it's the 328P. The datasheet shows a DIP package but no signs of it at Digikey.
I don't think this ships until fall.

It should just drop into BBB and RBBB as far as I can see, and the price is only .30 more than the 168 chips so it should be an easy upgrade once David Mellis and the hard core programmer gang get the IDE changes sorted out to support it. I wouldn't be surprised to seem some efforts to support other chips too, such as the tiny (AT) series.
