Game of Life?

Post by aspro648 »

I could have sworn I saw some code for Conway's Game of Life around here somewhere? Has anyone done this for the 8x8 board?

I haven't heard about it from my customers. Lady Ada has a dedicated board for doing it though. That's what you may be remembering.

I think that code is for a max 8x8 driver chip - unfortunately the data is in a different order. It could easily get you going on coding Game of Life though.

Is it possible to see, or download, or otherwise copy code that has been burned into an ATMEL chip like a 168 for example or just replicate the chip itself somehow?

I have some serious work to do updating docs and writing some new apps for the 8x8. The game of life wouldn't be that big a deal and would be fun to watch.
It might even be cheaper than 4 of LadyAda's boards. Not going to happen for at least a month though.

I hear rumor that there's a new 8x8 library on the way.
Hmmm, sounds like game of life would be a great sample app.
Very evil grin! ;-)
