Programming with SparFun's FTDI Basic Breakout

Hi,

I was wondering if it's possible to upload Arduino sketches using the SparkFun FTDI Basic Breakout (5V)?

I suppose it should work, but I got an error trying:

avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

I'm using Arduino 0020 on a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 1.6.4.

Programming my Seeeduino Mega works without a charm.

Yes, the sparkfun board should work fine. It's basically the same thing as the BUB board we make.
If your RBBB is new, try reheating the RX, TX, reset pins, checking to see if the chip is seated etc. Also try swapping chips to see if firmware could be an issue.

That's what I thought...

I've had a second RBBB kit which I soldered yesterday and it worked like a charm.

About my first RBBB: Since the LED is not lighting up when connecting the FTDI cable I suppose I screwed something up during soldering.

Thanks for the support. I'll come back when I have done some measurements on the bricked RBBB.
