Wind Sensor Rev. P

Post by nickmpartz »

Hi all,

I've got a quick question. I'm trying to understand how the Wind Sensor Rev. P works.
Can someone give me some info about the sensing element connected between JP1 and JP5? (named SENS in the schematic) Is it a small resistor, a small piece of wire or is it something else?

Any help would be much appreciated,
Nick

The sensor is a thermistor, a resistor that changes with temperature.

In a more high end hot wire anemometer it would indeed by a "hot wire" a very thin (and very fragile) wire that is heated.

Does this mean this wire is prone to damage if it's that fragile? Or did they protect it well?

The sensor is not a wire, it's a resistor.
