Optiboot Standard on All Boards and Chips

Post by paul » Tue Feb 21, 2012 12:19 pm

I'm a little late with this announcement, but since early January we have been shipping Optiboot as the default option on all our boards and chips.
There were some early issues with Optiboot, using FTDI chips and Windows, but I'm happy to say the bugs have been killed and it works great across the board now.

You still have to install FTDI drivers to work with the BUB, JeeLink, JeeUSB and Freeduino Host Board since they all use FTDI chips for USB communication.
You can find the latest drivers here: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

For the board setting in the Arduino IDE (if you're using the Arduino IDE) use the "UNO" setting.

What is the correct way to burn a BBB with optiboot using the 1.0.1 version arduino software?

Was using this burner: http://www.valuehobby.com/usb-asp-programmer.html

avrdude prints out a harmless error message. Optiboot was working correctly with the Arduino 1.0.1 load, but the download using the USB-BUB wasn't working. Looking at the USB-BUB page, found this: "Customers using the Optiboot bootloader should solder up one of the Logic Level options (LGLV jumpers on the board)." See http://shop.moderndevice.com/products/usb-bub

Feeling like Emily Litella . . .
